Job posters can now promote their positions through their own online networks.

We have always utilised Jobping's online networks (Facebook, LinkedIn & Twitter) for job post promotion and now we are offering job posters a chance to connect to their own networks too.

After publishing a position on Jobping you are now given the option to update your networks. Of course most will also set up a LinkedIn and Facebook page at a minimum, but Twitter is the only one of these where the people following you, and indeed many more who are not, are more likely to see your communication just seconds after you post it. Thanks to Twitter’s API, channelling your posts as well as anything else you might like to say to a whole crowd of listening ears is almost effortless when you have the right strategy in place.

Jobping is making it as easy as possible for recruiters to get their social networking strategy right. To do this, we give registered recruiters the option to add their Tweets to all of the positions that they post. The ability to do this adds a whole other dimension to a job post that you don’t get anywhere else. The immediate benefit is that advertisers can cross sell other positions available and therefore eliminate the need for job seekers to perform more searches to find positions that they may not have found anyway.

However this is only a short term benefit. The true benefit is one for the long term. A recruiter can highlight, define and extend their online presence and persona in a context that will gain a far more targeted audience and increase the potential of finding better quality followers of future Tweets.

The strategy of social networking in its simplest form is to gain as many followers, friends and connections as possible, therefore extending your voice to a larger and growing audience. But how many of these followers are really relevant or have any true business potential to reach the goals of a recruiter. On Jobping if a job seeker notices you have other Microsoft technology oriented positions via your Twitter feed then that user is likely to start following you. Once this happens a recruiter has gained a potential communication resource for life. This also eliminates the need for that job seeker to ever have to perform another search in the future to be able to find your job posts.

With this feature enabled on Jobping, recruiters have the ability to not only promote all of their job posts in one place, but also have the potential to gain quality, targeted candidates for the immediate and foreseeable future for any relevant future positions. This is the true goal of any social networking strategy and one that cannot be underestimated.

So, what do I get now I've signed up to jobping?

Many of you who have registered with Jobping already may be wondering what to do now. Those of you who haven’t registered as a recruiter on Jobping may be wondering why they should bother signing up to another service that claims to be different from the rest. What is it that I get with Jobping that I don’t already get with other job boards that I’ve been using for years?

Feature #1 – Reduced steps for everything

We know time is precious, so we’ve made it as quick and easy as possible to fulfil any task you may wish to perform. This starts with a simple registration form that only asks you to add the information we really need to know. Once you have registered you can sign in from any page and have a cookie saved to your computer so that you don’t need to sign in the next time you visit.

Adding a job post is even simpler. The Create a Job Post form asks for the bare minimum, leaving it up to you to add as little or as much information about the role as you please. You can also quickly and conveniently preview the post exactly as a Job seeker would see it whilst you write using the tabs at the top of the form.

Once your job post is published more functions are just one click away. Duplicate and publish a job post that’s available in separate locations, or view the performance of a post with our simple statistics engine. Once your post is approaching its expiration date simply extend it by the same time frame with just a single click. It’s really all very easy.

Check back here soon for feature #2 – Cross sell job posts using your own Twitter feed.

Announcing StickyBeak

As said when we launched Jobping Open Source Short Urls Service, we at Jobping are committed to open source.

So last week we announced StickyBeak, you might read more on the blog of Mark - Introduction to StickyBeak

StickyBeak is a logging tool for asp.net websites which logs information such as date, http method, url, User.Identity.Name, IP Address, unique session Id, unique browser Id, header values, querystring values, posted form values and cookie values for every request.

StickyBeak is a complementary tool to the excellent elmah from Atif Aziz

We are using elmah on Jobping to log exceptions that might happen on the site, but we also wanted a raw record of each request made to our site, to make our troubleshooting life easier.

You can download the source and binaries from StickyBeak on CodePlex.

Jobping Open Source Short URLs Service

Today we released our own branded short URL service: http://jobp.in. This means that every time a job post is published on Twitter by www.jobping.com the short URL will start with http://jobp.in/.

Job posters now get an extra few characters for each tweet and readers can rely on our short URL as a trusted domain that leads them to our main site. Our shortener only accepts long URLs that are in our jobping.com domain.

The URL shortener works like other URL shortener services, it takes a long URL and makes it really short. When a user requests one of our short URLs e.g http://jobp.in/g the URL shortener service will redirect the user to the long URL. It issues a standard 301 redirect, an efficient and search engine friendly method for redirecting the user to the long URL location.

We have also published the Jobping URL shortener as open source and can be found on Codeplex here: http://jpurlshortener.codeplex.com/. We will be contributing more projects just like this to the open source community.

Jobping launches niche job website listing Microsoft skilled vacancies

Sydney, Australia - April 27, 2010 - Last week, Jobping, a new job posting web site aimed specifically at job seekers and employers who work with Microsoft technologies, was released into public beta.

Jobping currently focuses on the Australian market and aims to bring a better quality of candidate to a posted vacancy via a niche, industry targeted approach.

The site is unique, user friendly and streamlined when compared to the larger job post boards. For instance, publishing is done in a couple of clicks and the job is instantly broadcast through Twitter, Facebook and job indexing sites such as Indeed and CareerJet. Recruiters are also able to add their company Twitter feed to a job post in order to cross sell other vacancies all in one place.

From a job seeker point of view Jobping searching works just like today's search engines with specific job filtering options. Job seekers also benefit by being kept up to date in a variety of ways including through Rss, Internet Explorer Web Slice, Twitter or Facebook. Similarly, job seekers are able to apply for a position using their LinkedIn profile, saving time and eliminating the need to keep two separate resumes up to date and they may optionally attach a traditional pdf or word resume.

More features and functions based on user feedback and requirements will be implemented quickly as Jobping takes an organic and user oriented approach to product development.

Jobping will remain free during the beta period which will continue for 3-6 months. Advertisers utilizing the site during the beta period will be rewarded through special discounts once the pricing structure is introduced.

Visit us on www.jobping.com !

We are live!

We just launched www.jobping.com!
